The Man in Black, Johnny Cash passed on today, September the 12th, We will always remember you Johnny!
This is me as a South Park character
This is my website dedicated to the JEEP CHEROKEE/COMANCHEE series, it lasted 17 years on the assembly line. In the
1980's AMC was on a steep decline in business, they needed something that would "save" their company, so a few engineers
developed a more mundane (sp?) vehicle. It would be dubbed the XJ, they wanted the ruggedness of the JEEP name yet the
luxury of a sports car. In my mind, they acheived both.

From 1984-1986, Cherokees/Comanches came wth the AMC 2.5 litre four cylinder or the 2.8 litre GM v-6. The
four had 100 or so horse power and the 6 had 115-125 horsepower. The transmissions were peugots (manuals), AX15's (manuals) and
3spd autos. In 1987 Chrysler enquired about purchasing the floundering AMC, in late 87, Chrylser took over.
Also in 1987 AMC introduced the 4.0 litre six, it was derived from the 4.2 litre 258. This engine made 177 crank horsepower.
A dana 44 was offered in 87,88, and 89 with the tow packages, along with 3.73 gears (3.55's was the norm-as was the dana 35)
The 4 cylnder was still available, in 1991 DC (Dailmer/Chrysler) changed from renix fuel injection to mopar mpfi (multi port
fuel injection) and added 13 horses, the 4 cylinder also got this upgrade and went to 120 horse.
The only aesthetic upgrades came in 1987 (just minor changes) and in 1997, where the body was smoothed out. The
models available were, pioneer, sport, laredo, and the eliminator package (comanchees only)
